Marketing can seem difficult, especially when you’re a small business, but it can be a great tool which will give your company the boost it needs on your way to being a star. So, today I’m going to give you some marketing tips for small businesses – enjoy!

  • Before you even start you need to be aware of your target market and unique selling proposition (USP). These things will be crucial when creating content, and will be the thing to make you stand out amongst your competitors.

  • Once you’ve nailed this you need to learn how to talk the talk. This will take some time, but being able to talk confidently and show how informed you are to potential clients will be a huge skill, so make sure you’re prepared.

  • Network network network. Now that you’re a master talker, attend any relevant event or training day for your industry, and talk to as many people as you can. Here you can find great people who do similar things to you, people you can work with in future and even potential clients.

  • Building leads is your next move, and how you do this will depend on your business. It could be newsletters or competitions, and depending on your budget freebies can be a great motivator.
  • Now the computer comes into play, get yourself on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, whichever social media platform (or platforms) are suitable for your company and start setting up your profile. Similarly to my last point, how you play the social media card depends on you, but keep in mind that advertising can be a great way to bring new people to your profile – especially on Facebook.

  • The grand finale in my list of marketing tips for small businesses is to ensure that your content is high quality. If you are writing blog posts (like this one), make sure you are answering a question or providing help to your potential customers. If you can write these posts yourself then great, but if that’s not possible then you can outsource this to other talented writers.

Hopefully these marketing tips for small businesses have given you an idea of how marketing can benefit your company, and you’re ready to go out and blow your future customers away. For more tips and tricks surrounding recruitmentHR and business, check out the rest of our blog!
